7月28日 Trip in Turkey 3Now we are in Urgup (not Urglup, sorry for the mistake in the previous entry =_=). I just got back from ballooning. it was really good. the only downside is that we didnt fly high enough. i thought we could actually go higher. anyway. it was great.
today is the 28th and this is the 3rd day in Urgup. we got here at noon on the 1st day here. we didnt do much on that day because we were extremely tired after the overnight coach from Pomukkale. Pomukkale is a really nice place and we enjoyed ourselves very much. you will tell from the pics when i get back from HK. Anyway let's get back to Urgup. We visited an open-air museum on the 1st day and that was the only place we went to.
on the second day, which was yesterday, we joined a local tour and went to different places. we went to Mustafapasa which is an old Greek village in Turkey, and some other places. the most fascinating was the underground city called Kaymakli Undergrouond City. it was a really clever idea at that time to live underground to avoid enemies. (we also visited a carpet place but nothing i wanna say about it. it wasnt bad but it isnt all that, u know)
it is now only about 9am. i just got back from ballooning and had my breakfast. for the ballooning, we had to be picked up by the ballooning company at 4:50am. but then we went to bed at about 2 the night before. so i am very tired. i will sleep for a few hours later before going out for hiking. anyway, it was my 1st time ever riding on a hot air balloon and the experience was great. we saw the sunrise on the balloon. it was cool.
just heard that two bombs went off in istanbul. it was said to be a terrorist attack. we will go back to istanbul after a few days. i hope things will be fine when we get back there.
bye for now. 7月27日 trip in turkey 2hello ppl. how are u? this is the 2nd entry of this trip in turkey. i will do my best to update it whenever possible ^^
today is already the 27, so it has been almost a week since the last update. something i need to add to the previous entry befor moving on.
on the 19 of July, we also visited a place called the Bacilica cistern. it is an underground water storage. the entrance to the cistern is really small and it looks more like an entrance to a public toilet. however, when you get in there, you will find a huge underground vault underneath. it is just amazing. i feel like going into one of the Harry Potter's tent.
anyway, today is the 24th. let's do some updating here
20th July
we didnt go anywhere special but we walked around istanbul. we walked on one of the shopping streets there and had some food. the ice cream in turkey was really funny in texture. it was more like chewing on marshmellow then eating ice-cream.
in the afternoon, the ladies went to have a turkey bath. i was asked to join but i wasnt interested at all. so i went walking around again in the city with Ms Lio. we went back to the shopping street and saw some street performaces. it was alright. we also had a drink by the seaside. it was really relaxing.
21st July
we got on a bus from istanbul to Canakkale (cha-na-kal-lei). it took us about 4 hours. we didnt do much on this day. when we got to Canakkale, we walked around the town and took some pics by the seaside.
22nd July
We went to Troria. it was the location where the trojan war took place. we hired two taxis to Troria. we hired the taxi with a french couple (i think they are a couple)who we met at the bus station to Troria. we thought it would be better to go there by taxi so we shared the fare. to our suprise, the french man is a teacher too. he teaches French in France. we talked in the taxi on the way back to Cannakale and took a pic before we headed to different ways.
the city of Troy was really disappointing to me. maybe i was influenced by the movie with Brat Pitt as the main guy. there city we visited was small in scale and it didnt look like place for thousands of ppl to live in.
we when back to the hotel and checked out. we needed to catch the coach to our next destination, Sulcek. the manager there was really rude and he had no clue to everything. we had a little arguement before checking out. it shouldnt be mention there. let's not spoil the mood.
in the afternoon, we took a coach from Canakkale to Sulcek (sul-shuk). it took us 7 hours!! it was a really long journey. it was already 8 in the evening by the time we got to Sulcek. we walked around as unusal and had dinner. we will stay in this town for 3 nights.
23rd July
After breakfast, we went to a ruin called Efesus. the ancient structures there were amazing. i can tell that it was once a very busy place. there were a lot to see. it was really an eye-opener.
After Efesue, we headed back to Selcuk for lunch then we caught another bus to a town called Sirince. it is a very old town. people are till living there. it is a very relxing town with some shops for visitors. i bought a bottle of fruit wine there. ^^ feeling very happy. really wanna go home early and share it with my family. i am sure they will love it too.
24th July
we went to a place called Aphrodisias. it is also a ruin like Efesus. but is is bigger in scale and some of the ancient structures are still being excavating. it was as crowded as it was in Efesus. so we took outr time there. we spent the whole day for this single destination. in the morning after breakfast, we took a taxi at 9am. it took us 3 hours to get to Aphrodisias. we were there for 4 hours until 4pm.
it was a really good place to visit to as it was as interesting as Efesus. but i thought Efesue is better though.
the update is a few days behind. will do it again soon.
today we will go for a day trip around the area including going to an underground city. tomorrow, very early in the morning, we wil go ballooning!!! my first time ever. i am sure i wil have tones of fun.
bye for now!
7月20日 In TurkeyYesterday 18th july friday
i am now in Turkey with Ms Wan, Ms Mok, Ms Shum, Ms Lio and MR Siu. This is the 2nd day here and so far we had some really good moments.
Mr Siu, Ms Lio and myself departed at 00:30 on the 8th. We took Emirates to Dubia for a transit flight to Turkey. We needed to stop over at Dubai for 10 hours so we got a chance to go out of the airport and visit Dubai. Unluckily, it was a friday when we got there, most of the extablishments were closed for Friday's morning mosque gathering. so we could only take pictures outside museums and on the street. it was quite silly though. the heat in Dubai was just mad! we sweated even we didnt do much. it was just horrible. The heat was like 10 times stronger than that in HK.
Under such crazy heat, we visited the outside of some museum and we went to a big shapping mall for breakfast. After that, we headed back to Dubai International Airport for the flight at 2:45 to Turkey.
it was about 7pm Turkey time when we arrived at Turkey International airport. We took the underground from the airport to our hotel. I thought speaking English would be good enough to get around Turkey but some people in Turkey seem not to be able to speak well enough to communicate with tourists. We tried to ask for directions for the hotel and some people just couldnt help at all because they dont understand what we wanted. anyway, we got to the hotel at about 8 and Ms Shum, Ms mok and Ms Wan were already waiting for us at the lobby. We were extremely tired so we didnt go out to dinner with them. we had showers and just realxed in our room.
00:30 HK to Dubai, it took us 8 hours. it was about 4:30 am Dubai time when we landed there.
Dubai time 7:00am to 1:00pm walking in Dubai aimlessly. we had had a plan but it was useless because of the mosque gathering thing.
Dubai time 3:15pm took off from Dubai Airport
Turkey time 7:00pm, we landed on Turkey International Airport
Today 19th July saturday
We visited some good places in Turkey today and took some good pictures. the first stop was Blue Mosque. The interior of the mosque was amazing. The paintings and the deco on the wall were fab. After the mosque, we went to a square nearby which was a chariot race court many years ago. There was a basilisk from Egypt. Then we walked around the area and to the coast.
After the leisure walk, we went the St Sofia Cathedral. the interior was also amzaing. just loved it alot. The last stop before dinner was the turkish palace in Istanbul. we walked inside the palace and saw some exhibits. the palace was really cool and we could feel the breeze. it was really comfortable walking inside.
I will try to update the journey as soon as i can if internet access is possible. take care.
pictures will be uploaded when i get back to Hong Kong ^^
7月11日 Catherine is back to Australia T.Tjust got back from the airport and took a shower i went to say bye to our NET teacher, mrs Catherine Lam. She is probably on the way back to Australia now. the English department miss her very much. she is such a nice and wonderful NET teacher. i will miss her much.
7月9日 arrghhh <- i think i have had this b4 =_=been out of JCCSS(TM) for a few days to carry out our annual mission. the business hasnt been good and we only have half a day left. god bless america... ... no!! god bless JCC.
been really down lately and i have no mood for anything. i dont know why i have been quite emotional in recent months.
it's the feeling like you got slapped hard on the face by someone you really like. do u get me?? =_= (not that i really got slapped)
i just wanna mind my own business and nothing else. can ppl just leave me alone in my own little world.
hearing the truth is freaking damn harsh and i'd rather not know.
i will keep my ears shut, dont tell or ask me anything.
i will keep my mouth shut, i will not tell.
ppl who like talking should pay attention to those who raise their voices first. learn to take turns!
every time 'you' barge in when i am talking will make me walk away. i really hate that mannar!!!!
i hope i will feel better when i am away. 7月5日 07-08 S5 Grad Dinner in Eaton Hotel (Jordon)It was the 07-08 S5 Grad din tonight and i was pleased that i got invited. i taught some of them two years ago when they were in S3 and now, all of a sudden they are in S5 and are about to graduate. I sincerely hope that they will have a bright future no matter what they have decided to do in the coming years. here are some of the pics i took from the event. they were some of my students two years ago. ^_^
7月3日 coming back from Shaoquan (韶关)just got back from shaoquan (韶关) and took a really nice and relaxing shower.
Mr Chow, Ms Lam, Ms Tse, Mr Lam and myself took 20 s6 students to Shaoquan for 4 days. it was a really cool four-day trip as there were so many jokes we (the teachers) could laught at. this time, we had things like 食啤牌 and 神台灯. ms tse did a really cool trick with her bowl of noodles in front of us. it was just amazing and we laught like mad.
during the day time in these four days, we went to different places and invited one secondary school and one primary school. the students also had a day of military training. we were accompanied by Mr Luk, one of the local teachers there. he was the same teacher who accompanied us when we were there two years ago. he recognised us when he saw us. he was a really nice teacher. in the evenings, we went shopping in a local shopping street and in a big shopping mall. we mostly bought food for late night. i seldom eat late night snack but in these four evenings, i ate a lot before i went to bed. it was just fab living like a pig (haha)
i am really tried and i think i will stop here and continue some days later. =_=
