Oral Practice

I was quite exhausted today as I had 2B extra English oral exam practice in the morning and MAEng in the afternoon still half 6. I was actually quite satisfied because some of my 2B had made me quite happy today. I taught them how to conduct a group interaction. I was worried about whether they could think of and most importantly, to articulate some ideas for the discussion. It turned out that I shouldn’t have worried about it. Most of them could say something reasonably to make the discussion going. I was very pleased with their performance today.

I will organize another English oral exam practice on Monday. I am hoping that they will perform well just like today.

I love you all, my 2B babies.

Mother's Day (not much though) >.<

Mother’s Day is on the 2nd Sunday of May every year for most countries. However in some countries, Mother’s Day is on a different date. England has its Mother’s Day in March

Since my mum lives in London, I didn’t have to celebrate Mother’s Day with her. I only phoned her and talked with her for about a few minutes. She was alright though. She wasn’t mad at me about not phoning her in March. Maybe I will remember doing so next year. (hehe)

Since I have been back in Hong Kong for almost 4 years now, I have already forgotten some of the special days in the UK. I have just remembered that the 5th of Nov is what the Britain called the ‘Bonfire Night. That is the only day when people in England can play fireworks. The origin of this particular day has its story. Here it goes: A man called Guy Fawkes and a group of (conspirators) bad people attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill the King, James I (the 1st) and the entire Parliament. (I will not tell you the reason or it will be long) Anyway, they wanted to blow up the Houses of parliament as revenge of what James I (the 1st) did to the Jesuits. Obviously, they were caught. They were tortured and executed.

Bonfire was originally called ‘Bone Fire Night’ meaning to burn Guy Fawkes in fire. People got around a big fire and celebrated the death of Guy. Now it is called Bonfire Night. The intention of it isn’t about Guy Fawkes anymore. Still, people get around a big fire every 5th Nov to have fun.

Not much about Mother’s Day though. Hope you enjoy reading it. >.<
