One Class = One Heart ?!?!?!

This week is our ‘One Class, One Heart’ week. Each class is going to give presents to their class teacher(s) in this week. Due to the bad weather we have been experiencing recently, we carry out the event in the school hall during morning assembly.

I received presents from two classes. One was from my 6A students on Tuesday and one was from my 3B students today. My 6A students gave me a very thoughtful present… it should be SOME very thoughtful presents. They gave me throat soothing snacks such as those from Aji Ichiban (the snack store) and some throat soothing drinks. Be honest, I loved the presents very much because I like presents that are practical and I think I could make use of the food and drinks they gave me. However, I found it difficult to smile and be excited about the event because my 6A students disappointed me a big time and made me very angry just before Tuesday. I wasn’t in the mood of receiving anything from them, not to mention having picture taken with them. Still, I like the presents very much. Thanks 6A ^_^

My 3B boys and girls gave me a lovely teddy bear. They said the teddy bear looked exactly like me. Yeah right… (sarcastically ^^). I loved it as I can beat it up when I am in a bad mood. Thanks 3B

Two more days and it will be the end of the event. I wonder what other teachers will get from their students. (please be anything but scarves… …係又頸巾, 唔係又頸巾, 送都送到爛喇﹗)

... ... silly ppl.

Heard something very silly today from some of my students. They found some other students talking about me in one of the public forums. Those students had my picture posted in the forum and said some really mean and nasty things about me. I was told that because i once told that particular group of students off for what they had done and they did it as a sort of revenge.

Oh please! Grow up!!

30th Anni Walkathon and more

Today was our school's 30th Anni Walkathon. We started from Kam Fat Playground in Chilok. We walked MacLehose Trail sections 10 and 11 (i guess =_=). It was a fine day for the walkathon coz the weather was fair for us. ^^ It's just couldnt be better. Blue sky and warm sunshine - making me sleepy though (haha)

I had breakfast in McD with TCWong and waited WFSiu there. We then took a taxi to the designated gathering point. We gathered in the playground and waited for everyone to turn up. We departed at 9:15 and i got there with Rhys at just a minute past 10. Uncle Kelv was before us. He got there sooner. We took about 45 mins. I tried to walk fast and occasionally i ran because i wanted to get myself prepared for the 'Island Walk - 50km' on the 1st of March. It was ok. I was happy about the timing. I think i could do better though since it wasnt a difficult trail.

Some of the teachers, including me, were planning to hike for another one or two hours after the school event. However, we did something else which we thought was much better than our original planning. We saw some ppl having BBQ alongside the road under such fab weather. We then thought why shouldn't we have one too. hehe then we dropped our rucksacks at the BBQ pit. Some of us immediately went to a supermarket and bought all the things we needed. It was SUCH a good and relaxing day. LOVED IT ^^

Everyone did so well today! Well done boys and girls. We also made the right decision today (hahahahahahah) Well done and a big hand to US!~

I thought it was summer now =_=

I remember when I was young, I had to protect myself against the winter cold with thick clothes, especially during Christmas and the Chinese New Year holidays. Last year’s Christmas wasn’t very cold. I only had to wear a short-sleeve T-shirt and a thin jumper on top. For the Chinese New Year holiday, I only had a short-sleeve polo.

In Hong Kong, we will have no winter after 10 to 15 years. We can actually experience the temperature outside now. The winter season spans from Dec to Feb but we only have a few days of cold weather. Shops selling winter clothes can pull out their summer stocks again. People seldom buy big jackets anymore.

The weather is changing dramatically around the world in these recent years. I had lived in London for a number of years and I had never heard of ‘heat wave’ in Europe. The hottest summer temperature I experienced when I was there was only somewhere between 23 and to the highest 27. Since three to four years ago, the temperature has risen to a ridiculous level of about 34 and 35. In some hotter parts of Europe, the temperature is even as high as 40. At least a few people die under the blazing heat every summer.

I read an article lately about the arctic summer ice. A few years ago, some scientists predicted that there would be no more summer arctic ice after 30 years. However, recently, the rate of the ice melting is quickening. If the rate remains unchanged, there will be no more summer ice even sooner.

All these thank to global warming and greenhouse gases. If we don’t do something about it, we and our next generation will pay the cost.
